BIOKING is a blend of stabilized harmless bacteria and free enzymes specially formulated to breakdown domestic and organic waste in Pit toilets Septic tanks and sewerage treatment works.

 APPLICATION OF BIOKING

BIOKING has been applied in a variety of areas including pit latrines and septic tanks, all types of municipal sewerage works and in the treatment of waste from industries which produce an organic waste eg. Wine industry, fruit processing, meat processing. The application of BIOKING in these areas are as follows:

  • BIOKING rapidly breaks down a solids build-up to a liquid form and finally clean water.
  • The anaerobic bacteria in BIOKING are very effective in biodegrading a submerged solids build-up such as in septic tanks, pit latrines, flooded biofilters etc.
  • BIOKING can be used to establish a biomass in a waste water treatment system or to enhance the biomass in an overloaded system.
  • BIOKING improves the biodegradation efficiency per unit volume of the treatment plant and hence reduces the BOD/COD and suspended solids levels of the effluent of the plant.
  • The use of BIOKING in pit latrines, especially in rural areas, reduces the incidence of water borne diseases and removes the malodorous smell usually associated with raw sewerage.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

BIOKING contains a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria selected for their enhanced biodegradation capabilities. The product includes free enzymes: amylases, celluloses, proteases and lipases.

MODE OF ACTION

The bacteria in BIOKING become metabolically active once added to a food source and begin secreting the extra cellular enzymes required for biodegradation. The free enzymes are included to initiate the breakdown process while the bacteria become acclimatised to their environment.

The enzymes in BIOKING include the following:

  • a- amylase which enhances the breakdown of carbohydrates to soluble glucose molecules.
  • b-glucanase which enhances the breakdown of glucose to CO2 and water.
  • lipase which catalyse the breakdown of fats and oils to alcohol, fatty acids and glycerol.
  • protease which split protein molecules into smaller units (peptides), which will be broken down by peptidase to amino acids.

The anaerobic bacteria break down organics in environments where there is little or no dissolved oxygen, hence ensuring a liquid state throughout the biological system.

Continued application of BIOKING will ensure a high quality effluent, maintain liquefaction of organic solid matter and rapidly reduce offensive odours

TREATMENT PROGRAMME

The dosing regimen of BIOKING is dependent upon the nature of the waste, the volume and flow of the effluent and the concentration of pollutants in the wastewater to be treated. The product is first applied as a shock dose to introduce a high biological activity and then a maintenance dosing programme is implemented to ensure a high biological activity at all times.

The stabilized bacteria must first be mixed in clean water then poured into the affected areas. The product is most effective under the following conditions in the treatment system:

Temperature:   5°C to 45°C

pH:                      4.5 to 9.3

Metals :              none
